Brandon is best in bloom new entry

Brandon in Bloom has been presented with the 'Best New Entry' award for the town at the Anglia in Bloom 2018 awards ceremony which took place today.

Brandon was also awarded a 'Silver Gilt Award' in the towns (6,001 - 12,000 population) category.

The Brandon in Bloom team was invited to the annual awards which was held this year at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds.

These areas of Brandon were nominated by the Anglia in Bloom judges for awards in different classes, but were unfortunately unsuccessful:

  • Seymour's Garden - Biodiversity Award
  • Brandon Country Park - Drought/Sustainable Garden
  • The Orchard - Sheltered Housing/Care Home Garden

Group chairman, Gary Brocklehurst, said "There are so many people to thank for support and funding. I would rather say thank you to all our helpers and supporters for fear of missing one name out or appearing to put someone first, we're all winners.

"It really shows what a few people can do when they set their mind on something.

"The group can now concentrate on the Armistice and then hope to have a public meeting to plan the 2019 campaign and try to seek further help for our residents so more can be achieved."
