Clean sweep for West Suffolk Independents

It was a clean sweep for West Suffolk Independent candidates in yesterday's election as they take all three seats in the town.

Results counted today for the West Suffolk Council elections have each of the party's candidates, Victor Lukaniuk, David Palmer and Phil Wittam, receiving the highest number of votes for their ward.

Victor Lukaniuk took victory in Brandon Central with 292 votes (58%), David Palmer in Brandon West with 267 votes (47%) and Phil Wittam in Brandon East with 179 votes (31%).

Speaking after the election result was announced this morning, Phil said "We want to thank the electorate for supporting us. We have a clean sweep in Brandon and will work together for the betterment of our town."

Victor added "With the success of independent candidates and especially us West Suffolk Independents, it appears that that we are the second largest group in the new West Suffolk Council.

"This places us in an excellent position politically and will help us to make Brandon centre stage."
