At around 7pm on the evening of Thursday 17th December 2009, the snow in Brandon brought down the Christmas tree on Market Hill.
Brandon Town Council have since told BrandonSuffolk.com that the sleeve where the tree is lowered into the Market Hill has cracked and it would be very dangerous to put the Christmas tree back up. They have, therefore, decided that they have no choice but to remove the tree altogether.
The electrics for all of the Christmas lights have been disconnected for the time being, and the contractor will be in Brandon next week to split the cables so that the lights on the Old School House can be switched back on.
Many thanks to Peter Otoka at the Flintknappers for braving the cold conditions and getting a few photos for BrandonSuffolk.com just after it fell.
