The public at the recent meeting held at Brandon Town Council Offices on The 12th May 2010 has voted for the following changes to the Brandon SNT Priorities.
The Brandon Industrial Estate and the Brandon Homelessness Issue have been removed as priorities.
The Industrial Watch has been reinvigorated with well attended and regular meetings. Various crime reduction initiatives have been completed and there has been a reduction of Burglary other Buildings reported to police. Also, a number of arrests have been made.
Police patrols will continue and the SNT will continue to support the Industrial Watch Scheme to ensure that crime rates remain low.
All but one of the previously homeless individuals in Brandon remain housed. Agencies have tried to find a long term solution for this individual but this has proved unsuccessful. These agencies included the FHDC, Police, UK Border Agency, Social Services and concerned membes of the Brandon public.
Brandon SNT and members of the Full Gospel Church were recently nominated for the High Sheriff's Partnership of the Year Award with regards to our work with the homeless in Brandon. We were runners up for the award, receiving a certificate at the award ceremony on 19th March.
Members of the public decided upon a new priority. This was to look at Street Lighting issues within Brandon; to ensure existing Street Lighting is working and to see if there are any vulnerable areas that would benefit from extra lighting.
