Armed officers and the force helicopter from Suffolk Police were brought in to assist with locating a suspect after a man was attacked on the evening on Friday 20th August 2010.

A spokesman for Suffolk Police told BrandonSuffolk.com, "Police were contacted shortly after 7pm on Friday, August 20 following reports of a disturbance on Pheasant Way in Brandon.

"Officers arrived and found a man with hand injuries. He was conveyed to West Suffolk Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and subsequently discharged.

"A 43-year-old man from the town was arrested on suspicion of assault and is currently on police bail until Tuesday, October 12 pending further enquiries.

"Officers are not treating this incident as a random attack and believe there is a connection between the two men.

"The police helicopter and armed officers were involved in the incident."

It is believed that a machete was used in the attack and we also understand that the man who was injured had been threatened by the suspect previously, neither of these have been confirmed by Police at this stage.
