An introduction to The Voluntary Network:
The Voluntary Network operates a number community projects in the Brandon area. You can find details of some on their services below.
Suffolk Links Brecks Bus Service:
Suffolk Links is a Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) service which provides connections to bus and train links in rural areas. The service operates Monday to Saturday 7am until 7pm and can help you to visit the countryside, go shopping, attend medical journeys, also taking you to the railway and bus stations in order to travel further a field. Journeys are booked on a first come first served basis, up to 7 days in advance. If you would like further information then you are welcome to call our booking line or visit www.suffolkonboard.com
Booking line is open Monday to Friday 8am until 4pm 01638 664304
Community Car Service:
Volunteer drivers help to take passengers further a field, eg. hospital appointments, visit relatives or attend social groups. Please call 01638 608049 for further information.
Wheels with Wheels Service:
We are establishing a new service, a wheelchair accessible vehicle that can offer assistance with those journeys where public transport is unavailable. We will have a team of volunteer drivers who will be able to assist you or alternatively the vehicle is also available for self drive. Nominated drivers will need to provide us with a copy of their driving licence and complete the appropriate training.
Forest Heath Volunteer Centre:
We work to promote volunteering in the Forest Heath area. We recruit, match and place volunteers with a wide range of local voluntary organisations. All our opportunities are available to be viewed on the website www.do-it.org.uk
Befriending Service:
Volunteers offer support to the more vulnerable members of our community, just an informal chat can make a real difference to those who are housebound. If you would like to get involved or know someone who would benefit from the service then please call 01638 608048.
