Emergency services called to collision at petrol station

Emergency services have been called to a collision at the BP petrol station on London Road in Brandon.

Fire crews from Brandon, Thetford and Mildenhall were mobilised to the incident at 3.21pm today, Friday 12th February.

Police and the ambulance service were also called to the incident.

A car had collided with the shop building and it was initially believed the driver was trapped inside the vehicle.

On arrival of the fire service it became apparent the driver was not trapped and crews worked to make the scene safe. The driver was left in the care of the ambulance service.

Suffolk Police believe that the driver may have suffered a medical episode just prior to the collision.

The driver was subsequently taken to West Suffolk Hospital by ambulance.

The road remains partially blocked while police deal with the incident and traffic is queuing throughout the town as a result.

Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service called a stop to the incident at 3.45pm.
