Firefighters rescue horse stuck in river

Firefighters have successfully rescued a horse that had become stuck the river just outside Brandon.

Suffolk Fire & Rescue service were mobilised to the incident at 4.20pm today, Monday 7th August.

With the help of the What3Words app crews located the horse and rider in the Little Ouse river approximately 1 mile from Brandon.

Crews from Brandon and Mildenhall, along with two specialist water rescue appliances from Bury St Edmunds, used a rescue boat and lines to free the horse.

An equestrian vet was also on scene to oversee the rescue.

A stop to the incident was called at 8.30pm and the horse, Barnaby, was left in the care of the rider and vet.
