A suspected explosive device found in Brandon on Friday ‘was not ammunition’ according to bomb disposal experts.

Suffolk Police were called at 8.12pm on Friday 1st August after a suspected device was found on the river bed close to the bridge in Brandon.

A cordon was put in place, and the High Street closed, whilst experts were called in to assess.

621 Squadron from 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal & Search Regiment (EOD&S) responded to the callout.

The EOD Operator declared the item was not ammunition and removed it for scrap disposal at around 11.30pm.

No further action was required and the cordon was lifted just before midnight.
