Firefighters tackle forest fire near Brandon

Firefighters were called earlier this evening to tackle a forest fire between Brandon and Elveden.

Appliances from Methwold, Brandon and Thetford were mobilised to the incident just off the B1106 at 5.38pm today, Monday 31st May.

One of Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service’s water carriers from Newmarket was also sent to the scene.

On arrival crews found a large area of the forest smouldering and worked to bring the incident under control.

Firefighters used three hose reels to fully extinguish the fire.

A stop to the incident was called at 8pm.
