Man charged following firearms incident in Brandon

A man has been charged with firearms offences after another man was reported to have been shot in the leg during an incident in Brandon.

It occurred at some point between 10:30pm and 11pm on Monday 12th December at an address on the High Street.

The victim, a man aged in his 40s, called police the following afternoon, Tuesday 13th December, reporting he had been injured in the leg after a firearm, thought to be a shotgun, was discharged outside his address.

The injury is described as minor and the victim did not require hospital treatment.

Police conducted a search at a property on Riverside Way on Tuesday in connection with the incident and seized a number of firearms and ammunition from the address.

Jason Anderson of Riverside Way was arrested and has subsequently been charged with two counts of failing to comply with the conditions of a firearm certificate and possession of an imitation firearm intent to cause fear of violence. He is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court today, Thursday 15th December.
